Our Start

God brought us together in January 2006 and has caused our relationship to grow. Our family and friends had us "picked out" for each other for some time prior. We finally were introduced as Jim Larson dragged Randy across the Fellowship Hall at church to speak with Sara. That conversation was rather short but a slightly longer one transpired that evening.

Our first date was on Thursday, January 19, 2006. It was memorable simply because it was our first date but also due to a significant snow storm. We ended up driving after several inches of snow had fallen in the course of a few hours! All this plus Randy babbling out of nervousness (including his feelings on labor unions...).

We were engaged on March 31, 2006. Randy made a dinner for Sara. They watched Beauty and the Beast. During the movie Randy excused himself and, upon his return, presented Sara with the engagement ring and asked her to marry him. The ring was in a rose held by a stuffed frog. Thankfully Sara said, "Yes"!!!

On August 12, 2006 we were married. It was a beautiful ceremony attended by many family and friends. Sara certainly was (and still is!) a beautiful bride!!!

Since our marriage we have enjoyed many of God's blessings. We praise and thank Him for bringing us together. We marvel at how marriage under God's direction is better than we could have imagined. There have been times of challenge. However, through God's strength in each of us, we made it! We look forward to the many years ahead serving God together through our life, our family and all that He brings our way.

Life Today

Family is important to us. We look forward to raising many children for God's glory and honor. Sara has always had a wonderful way with kids. As an Early Childhood Development teacher she is able to use her gifts in her career as well as for our family.

We continue to wait upon God for bringing forth children. This has been a prayer for us since we joined our lives together. Our first pregnancy resulted in God choosing to take the child to His home about six weeks after conception. Although it was a difficult time, through His strength and comfort, we made it through.

In July 2009 we learned we were pregnant again. Early doctor visits did not sound optimistic. However God showed His strength and on August 5, 2009 we were overwhelmingly blessed to see and hear the heartbeat (136 bpm) of our baby!!! I seemed like forever but March 2010 finally came. On March 17, 2010 at 4:54pm we were finally introduced to Samuel Ezra Salo! More information is available on his page within this site.

We do have two non-human "kids" as well. Oreo is a black and white male cat Sara adopted in 2005. He is quite a snuggler (even though sometimes he shows his "I rule over humans" side). After Samuel was brought home we chose to bring Oreo to the Humane Society. Sara was diagnosed with asthma during pregnancy. It seemed Oreo caused her symptoms to be stronger. We were also concerned with Oreo's overall impact on Samuel (direct and indirect). We were blessed to find that he was adopted in under a week. We really hope he is happy in his new home. we keep his information on this site for memory's sake.

Ginger is a red dapple miniature Dachshund we adopted in April 2009. She is full of fun and joy. She enjoys most people and loves to snuggle with us! She is the cutest dog in the world!
